Breach of Contract | Failure to Perform | Failure to Pay
The Overlap of Contracts and Our Daily Living
There are all kinds of contracts which Floridians deal with every day; most people enter a new contract almost every day without even knowing it. Download new software, and you agree to their terms and conditions. There’s a contract. Pick up a prescription at the pharmacy and sign for it: there’s a contract. Sign a lease, rent a car, take a cruise, ride a Jet Ski, among other common Florida activities: contracts fill our lives these days.
What is a Contract?
Contracts are defined by Florida law, sometimes by federal statute (e.g., life insurance contracts). Basically, there is an offer and an acceptance of that offer, consideration is paid in some form, and a performance is defined. Legalese for a deal is made between two or more parties and it happens all the time.
What is a Breach of Contract?
And with these contracts come both duties and responsibilities on all the parties to that contract – and the reality that there will be times when someone is seriously hurt or injured or sometimes even killed because a contracting party failed to do what the contract set out for them to do.
How We Can Help With Contract Disputes
At Hallandale Law, we deal with both sides of contract law. Our law firm has years of experience dealing with the creation of contractual agreements, particularly real estate contracts. This gives us a clear understanding of how contracts come into being and what a good contractual agreement should require (and what it should not include).
Importantly, this transactional background helps a great deal when clients come to us with a situation where they have been harmed by a breach of contract. Contract disputes mean rights have been disrespected and often people have been financially and physically hurt as a result.

“With our law firm background both in writing contracts for clients as well as advocating for people who have been hurt by a breach of contract, we’ve become skilled at negotiating breach of contract disputes in a wide variety of scenarios. There are times when these things can be settled quickly, at a meeting between parties in a conference room – and that’s always the fastest and cheapest way to go, lawsuit-wise. However, breach of contract cases may need something more formal, like a mediator or an actual arbitration and that’s another way to get things resolved.
“Thing is: when settlement fails or the other side just won’t budge, it’s important for everyone to know that the breach of contact case is ready for a courtroom and that we – the lawyer and the client – are ready to take this breach of contract dispute to a jury for their verdict. Sometimes, knowing that we’re ready for a trial means the other side will settle before we have one.”
